Course Description:

Through the study of Civics and Economics, students will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to become responsible and effective citizens in an interdependent world. Students will gain a practical understanding of civics and economics systems that affect their lives as consumers and citizens.
The CMS Civics and Economics course serves as a foundation for the United States History course and the goals and objectives of the course are drawn from disciplines of political science, history, economics, geography, and jurisprudence.


Students will explore the following Units/Standards throughout the course:

1. Identity: Proud to Be an American
2. Change & Continuity: Legos of America
3. Balance: We the People
4. Power: Three Ring Circus
5. Ideology: Ante Up
6. Rule of Law: Law and Order
7. Scarcity: Decisions, Decisions
8. Interdependence: Money Makes the World Go Round
9. Resources: Who wants to be a Millionaire
